The Ingersoll Rand 441A2 Backfill Tampers are used by public works and utility crews for compacting earth and soil. These tools are ideal for utility line repair, pipeline work, trenching and new installations such as streetlights, fire hydrants, and telephone poles prior to pouring concrete. The 441A2 heavy-duty tamper is also well suited to backfilling around foundations and in tight areas. In a foundry environment, pneumatic tampers are referred to as Sand Rammers and are used for compacting sand molds. The 441A2 comes with a built-in lubricator and muffler. Its unique Dual-action sand wiper keeps dirt out of the barrel and prevents dirt and grime from entering the tool resulting in reduced bushing wear and longer tool life. The 441A2 has a 5-3/4” round malleable butt standard and plated piston.
